Things to do in Soda Springs

Soda Springs is named for the hundreds of natural springs of carbonated water all over the city. Past volcanic activity shaped the landscape, and the geothermal activity has caused the hot bubbling springs that gave it its name. Geothermal activity hundreds of feet below the ground heats water and mixes in carbon dioxide gas, creating the carbonated water we know. Soda Springs was a famous landmark along the Oregon Trail, known at the time as the "Oasis of Soda Springs". The famous Soda Springs Geyser, aptly named, is in this fair town. There is now a park and a visitor's center at the site. The geyser erupts every hour on the hour.
